Description
Traditional Jalebi is a popular Indian sweet known for its crispy, pretzel-like shape and sweet syrupy flavor. This delightful treat is made by deep-frying a batter of fermented flour (typically made from all-purpose flour or chickpea flour) into circular shapes, which are then soaked in a sugar syrup infused with cardamom or saffron for added flavor and aroma. Jalebis are often enjoyed warm, straight out of the fryer, offering a satisfyingly crunchy texture on the outside and a syrupy sweetness on the inside. To prepare Traditional Jalebi, a batter is first made by mixing flour with water and a small amount of yogurt or lemon juice, and sometimes a pinch of turmeric or baking soda to aid in fermentation and achieve the characteristic golden color. The batter is left to ferment for several hours or overnight, allowing it to develop a tangy flavor and airy texture. Once fermented, the batter is poured into a piping bag or squeeze bottle with a narrow nozzle, and spirals or circular shapes are formed directly into the hot oil. After frying until golden brown and crispy, the jalebis are immediately transferred to a sugar syrup bath, where they soak and absorb the sweetness and flavors of the syrup. Once saturated, the jalebis are removed from the syrup and served warm, often garnished with chopped nuts like almonds or pistachios for added texture and flavor. for Direct Sourcing from India Please Visit
