• Why Cuddalore–Nagapattinam PCPIR is iconic:
  The Cuddalore–Nagapattinam coastal belt in Tamil Nadu, stretching along the Bay of Bengal, was notified as a PCPIR (Petroleum, Chemicals & Petrochemicals Investment Region) to develop a refinery-driven chemical manufacturing ecosystem.
  Anchored by Chennai Petroleum Corporation Limited (CPCL) Cauvery Basin Refinery (Nagapattinam) and downstream chemical units, this corridor is a legacy petrochemical cluster supporting fertilizers, plastics, intermediates, and specialty chemicals.
  Though newer PCPIRs like Dahej and Paradip have surpassed it in scale, this cluster retains strategic importance for southern India’s chemical and petrochemical supply chain.
