Sustainability & Compliance

1) Preferred standards & fibre programs

  • OEKO-TEX® STANDARD 100 product-class testing; MADE IN GREEN (traceable) on request.
  • GOTS (organic cotton), BCI cotton support, GRS/RCS for recycled cotton & rPET yarns/fills; RWS for wool (if used), Fairtrade (select partners).
  • FSC® papers/boards for packaging; PCR content declarations for polybags.

2) Chemical management (RSL/MRSL)

  • ZDHC MRSL alignment for wet-processing; supplier chemical inventory & MSDS on file.
  • REACH Annex XVII & SVHC screening; Azo dye banned list, APEO/NPEO-free, phthalate-free prints & backings, formaldehyde targets (≤ 75 mg/kg apparel-adjacent; ≤ 300 mg/kg home textiles unless tighter spec requested).
  • Metals & trims: nickle-safe hardware; lead/cadmium limits per Prop 65/RSL; disperse allergenic dyes screened.
  • Latex/TPR rug backs: PAH & phthalate limits; odour and VOC control.

3) Product safety & regulatory pathways

  • Fibre & care labelling:
    • US: Textile Fiber Products Identification Act (TFPIA) + FTC Care Label Rule.
    • EU/UK: EU 1007/2011 fibre names & %; ISO 3758 care symbols.
  • Flammability:
    • Rugs & carpets (US): CFR 1630/1631 (DOC FF 1-70/2-70).
    • Curtains (contract/where required): NFPA 701 / BS 5867.
    • Children’s sleepwear (if in range): CFR 1615/1616; tracking labels (CPSIA) and total lead/phthalates.
  • Performance claims: absorbency (AATCC 79), pilling (ISO 12945), colourfastness to wash/rub/light (ISO/AATCC), shrinkage ≤ 3%, towel linting tests, rug peel/adhesion & slip resistance (ASTM D-/EN methods per retailer).

4) Social & ethical compliance

  • Audits: BSCI, SMETA/SEDEX, SA8000; no child/forced labour, fair wages, working-hour controls; grievance & anti-harassment policies.
  • Health & Safety: PPE for dyeing/printing; needle policy & metal detection on export lines; ergonomics for stitching/hemming.

5) Environmental stewardship (processing)

  • ETP/CETP with treated-water discharge to norms; many partners with ZLD/RO reuse; sludge to authorised recyclers.
  • Water & energy: low-liquor-ratio jets, dope-dyed/ring-dyed options to save water, heat-recovery on stenters, solar PV at mills.
  • Waste: yarn & fabric scrap segregation; recycled fibre spin-backs; carton & core recycling.

6) Packaging sustainability & EPR

  • Materials: FSC boards, high-recycled kraft; PVC-free bags; rPET/PE with PCR % marked; mono-material where possible for easy recycling.
  • EPR-ready data: per-SKU pack BoM with weights by stream (paper/plastic/metal/wood/textile) for EU/UK/US filings; country-specific polybag thickness & warning requirements met.

7) Documentation you receive

  • Certificates (OEKO-TEX/GOTS/GRS/RCS/BCI/Fairtrade as applicable) tied to PO/SKU/lot; COC/TC copies.
  • RSL compliance statements + lab test reports (ISO/AATCC) for colourfastness, pilling, shrinkage; chemical screens (azo/APEO/formaldehyde/phthalates/metals).
  • Regulatory labels (TFPIA/EU 1007/2011), care label proofs, COO certificates.
  • Flammability reports (CFR 1630/1631; NFPA 701/BS 5867 if ordered); CPSIA tracking + lead/phthalate tests for children’s lines.
  • ISTA pack test, barcode grade report, EPR BoM.

8) Timelines & inputs

  • Compliance scoping: 24–48 h • Lab tests: 5–12 days (most textile tests) • Flammability: 7–10 days (rugs/curtains) • Pre-shipment pack: 3–5 days before dispatch.
